Today I went to the optometrist to get my eyes checked and at the end of the eye exam the optometrist slid me into the connected glasses and contact lense store to sell me some contact lenses. I know that there is a great big market for contact lenses as there are more and more people that have bad vision I knew that I am not the only one, the trouble is that my contact lense store does not have a big enough market to get the best price from the contact lense manufacturers.

I came home and looked up some information and found that nearly 100 million americans have glasses or contact lenses and more often than not they are not updating their prescriptions as they do not bother getting eye tests.

Another thing that I was shocked to see was that the prices for contact lenses that I was looking at in the store were much higher than I could buy contacts for online, I guess that this is because of the big enough market as I mentioned above, anyway I found out that the biggest online store for contact lenses, Lensworld
, sells my Accuvue contact lenses for only $15.99 a box, this is less than half of what I was going to be charged at the contact lense store!

There is of course a couple of drawbacks to buying online. The biggest drawback is that you will have to wait a few days to get your Accuvue contact lenses so make sure that you notice a few days ahead of time that you need some contact lenses, standard delivery is about a week. The second problem is that there is a bit of a surcharge in that you have to pay for the shipping of your contact lenses. The cost for delivery is really the same no matter how many you order as the package is so small but it costs $6.95 in the US and $18.95 for Canadian orders.

So there you have it. I hope that I saved you some money. I was pretty happy to save some cash today too.
