I am in the market for a new digital camera and instead of the classic point and shoot I am getting ready to buy a Digital SLR or DSLR for short.

There are a few reasons that a Digital SLR is better than a regular point and shoot:

• More control over fstop, iso, shutter speed
• Bigger Image sensor
• Interchangable lenses
• Faster Focus

Now that I have that out of the way lets look at these individually.

More control over pictures

A DSLR is made just as an old serious 35 mm camera was with a lot of the settings on the lense itself. Also there is more control overthe picture output becasue the camera is made for professionals and as such there is a lot of software control built right into the camera that most point and shoot cameras are not going to bother with.

Bigger Image Sensor

I am starting to see first hand where the limits are with point and shoot cameras. If you track the changes in technology what we are seeing is that the little pinhole on the camera lense is still after 6 or 7 years letting in the same amount of light but the small sensor is getting more and more pixels on it. An old 2 MP camera image snesor is not too much dofferent then todays 7MP or even 10MP camera except that the sensor is trying to do more with the same amount of light. Not very fair.

In contrast a DSLR will use a much bigger sensor so there is not nearly the strain to get enough light into the camera, couple this with the big lenses and you have a much better picture of what you are seeing with your eyes.

Interchangeable lenses

This is both good and bad. If you buy a simple point and shoot camera you are going to see and take pictures and not have to mess with changing lenses but on the other hand given some extra money you can get more options for taking pictures by buyuing more lenses. There are lenses for zooming, for landscapes, for sports and even for different weather conditions in a way. This way if there is an interest that you have in taking pictures you can buy a lense that will do that so much better then a point and shoot out of the box.

Faster Focus

This is a bit of a gimme. The Digital SLR cameras are bigger and have a lot more intelligence built within them. Because of the better hardware and software within and Digital SLR camera you will see much more sccurate settings as well as faster focus and faster time to take pictures and faster time between pictures. If you look at most newer Digital SLR cameras you will find that you can get 3 pictures per second for normally as long as you want to take pictures for or until you fill up your memory card.

What is a carb blocker?

I am a bit of a fitness nut and am always looking at why people are able to lose or not lose weight. Most of the time we can just exercise and have a good diet and will ose weight easily that way. Sometimes this does not work though. I get emails every week from people that seem to have trouble losing weight, if they just have two pieces of bread they seem to gain weight easily the next day. I have looked around for a long time for something that would help everyone with this problem.

I have just run across a type of diet supplement known as a carb blocker.

A Carb Blocker works with your body’s own natural processes to prevent carbs from being stored as fat. The effective ingredient works by neutralizing the alpha amylase enzyme, effectively limiting the breakdown of carbohydrates into glucose and fat, meaning that your caloric intake can be dramatically decreased, even with carbohydrate-rich foods.

This all may seem a little technical, but the upshot is fairly simple. A Carb Blocker will prevent your body from turning carbs into excess fat, safely and easily. It starts working immediately, so you simply need to take two capsules before eating any especially starchy meals.

Are carb blockers a scam?

So my next step was to look around and find something that would work and would not be some kind of scam. I had a few qualifications for a good carb blocker:

• Had to be natural - Who wants to pollute their body with chemicals?
• Had to be cheap - Health food stores always seem to charge a ridiculous amount for what you get
• Had to be proven effective - There are far to many scams in the diet industry and I didn’t want to get ripped off.

I found a bunch of products out there and the trouble was that many are fly by night operations that you can not get hold of by phone, or they exagerated claims (if you could lose 30 pounds a month wouldn’t every have used your product?), and finally most of the products were some kind of crazy dangerous ephedrine product that didn’t actually block carbs at all but could instead cause heart problems.

Dietrine is a carb Blocker

In the end I did find one product that seemed to be a good carb blocker and that is a product called Dietrine. Dietrine seems to give me all of my qualifications. It is made out of beans, you can only buy it online so there is no five layers of middlemen selling to the health food store. And the company has been around for a long time, you can even phone them to ask about that.

PAYMENT OPTIONS
You have two choices: pay in full or finance over time. If you finance, the total cost of the car increases. That’s because you’re also paying for the cost of credit, which includes interest and other loan costs. You’ll also have to consider how much you can put down, your monthly payment, the length of the loan, and the annual percentage rate (APR). Keep in mind that annual percentage rates usually are higher and loan periods generally are shorter on used cars than on new ones.

Dealers and lenders offer a variety of loan terms and payment schedules. Shop around, compare offers, and negotiate the best deal you can. Be cautious about advertisements offering financing to first-time buyers or people with bad credit. These offers often require a big down payment and a high APR. If you agree to financing that carries a high APR, you may be taking a big risk. If you decide to sell the car before the loan expires, the amount you receive from the sale may be far less than the amount you need to pay off the loan. If the car is repossessed or declared a total loss because of an accident, you may be obligated to pay a considerable amount to repay the loan even after the proceeds from the sale of the car or the insurance payment have been deducted. If your budget is tight, you may want to consider paying cash for a less expensive car than you first had in mind.

Thomas L. Friedman is not so much a futurist, which he is sometimes called, as a presentist. His aim, in his new book, The World Is Flat, as in his earlier, influential Lexus and the Olive Tree, is not to give you a speculative preview of the wonders that are sure to come in your lifetime, but rather to get you caught up on the wonders that are already here. The world isn’t going to be flat, it is flat, which gives Friedman’s breathless narrative much of its urgency, and which also saves it from the Epcot-style polyester sheen that futurists–the optimistic ones at least–are inevitably prey to.

What Friedman means by “flat” is “connected”: the lowering of trade and political barriers and the exponential technical advances of the digital revolution have made it possible to do business, or almost anything else, instantaneously with billions of other people across the planet. This in itself should not be news to anyone. But the news that Friedman has to deliver is that just when we stopped paying attention to these developments–when the dot-com bust turned interest away from the business and technology pages and when 9/11 and the Iraq War turned all eyes toward the Middle East–is when they actually began to accelerate. Globalization 3.0, as he calls it, is driven not by major corporations or giant trade organizations like the World Bank, but by individuals: desktop freelancers and innovative startups all over the world (but especially in India and China) who can compete–and win–not just for low-wage manufacturing and information labor but, increasingly, for the highest-end research and design work as well. (He doesn’t forget the “mutant supply chains” like Al-Qaeda that let the small act big in more destructive ways.) Friedman tells his eye-opening story with the catchy slogans and globe-hopping anecdotes that readers of his earlier books and his New York Times columns will know well, and also with a stern sort of optimism. He wants to tell you how exciting this new world is, but he also wants you to know you’re going to be trampled if you don’t keep up with it. His book is an excellent place to begin. –Tom Nissley
